Female Eclectus Parrot
(Males are bright green)

Eclectus are one of the few parrots that are sexually dichromatic -that is, you can tell the male from the female easily just by looking at the colors. Most parrots show little or no visible differences. My wife hand-raised two males for an acquaintence who owns a breeding pair. The males are a brilliant green with patches of red and blue under the wings.

Great illustration! I have always like parrots since one said hello to me from a tree as I was teeing off at a golf course.

Very tropical. Almost makes me feel like I'm in Florida again.

Now that's some rich red going on there. The eye adds great contrast.
