Cool style
It's interesting seeing other styles and methods used. Nice job on the cicada. I can't wait to hear them again, if you know what I mean. My version of PSP dowsn't have oils (at least I don't think so).

great work. i used to love catching cicadas as a kid. and i really do like your step-by-step tutorial.

I can't image what you'd be capable of doing with Illustrator or Photoshop. If you have kids. buy them the CS suiute for school and use it while they are in bed.

Very well painted. You captured the embroidered transparency of its wings.

I am not the least bit an "insect" fan; but wow; beautiful detail!; Love the gold in the wings

Your work is gorgeous.

And you do that thing I like so much - fun with titles:

T with Tea at Tee.

It took me two tries to get Tea N Tea. then I smiled.

Very cool digital painting. Especially liked going to your explanation on the technique... I like Paint Shop Pro, but don't have a copy of it. Messed with it years ago. Also liked your companion piece on cicadas... an insect we don't see (or hear) in this part of the country.

thanks for your comment! - you know I whip little sketches together and they often turn out to be like mini pschiactric examinations of my mood at the time they;re drawn - in this case my first post to illustration friday - check out more of my illustration at http://kaptainkartoon.blogspot.com/

Very nice painting - cicadas should really look so good! They are one of the things I don't miss about the east coast.

Thanks Don for the post! Just wanted to say you have a lot of great stuff here. Funny stuff! This Illustration for the insect post is very cool! I love the painted feel! Very nice for the program you are using! It looks like you have a good grip on the software.

So realistic and at the same time artistically.
Very soft illustration.

Great picture! Thanks for your note on my blog too. I took a little creative license with the coloring on my cicada... but I know that some have red eyes.

Sweet! And, dare I say, awesome! I really like that effect. Now I'm off to see how you did it.
